Interesting. Here's what Max Lucado says in his book " Grace: More Than We Deserve, "
Confession! It’s a word that conjures up many images—some not so positive.
Confession isn’t telling God what he doesn’t know. That’s impossible.
It’s not pointing fingers at others without pointing any at me. That
may feel good, but it doesn’t promote healing. Confession is a radical
reliance on grace—a trust in God’s goodness. The truth is, confessors
find a freedom that deniers don’t!
Scripture says, “If we say we
have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But
if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust
God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have
done. John 1:8-9″
Tell God what you did. Again, it’s not that he doesn’t already know,
but the two of you need to agree! Then let the pure water of grace flow over your mistakes!
I realize that everything about God works together to make the big picture. Confession is something I grew up with in my Catholic religion and the years since I haven't practiced it, I had forgotten about it, thinking it was a Catholic tradition that was just that, a tradition. I realize now, how they practice it, by confessing to the Priest is the "tradition" part, I think. I'm not bashing them, just stating the way I see it. Anyway, so over the years I hadn't given confession a thought until a few months ago when it came up in counseling. The importance of confession is the fact that it is being in communion, it is being in a conversation, it is being in a relationship with Christ. No, God doesn't NEED to know what I've done wrong. Of course not. He knows already. He sees me, BUT when I confess to Him, I'm entering into a relationship with Him...asking Him to be part of my day, if you will. So, this is what I learned a few months ago and have been making it a habit to confess daily, ( yes, I'm afraid I'm an avid sinner). So now I read that confession goes hand in hand with GRACE too. Confession is a radical reliance on GRACE. who knew? It seems that when you are looking for it, God's grace is everywhere. It's so cool.
Really, is there anything better than waking up in the morning ( a Friday no less ) and learn something new about God and His GRACE? It makes me look forward to the day, that is for sure.
Blessings on you my friends and have an awesome Friday and weekend!!!!

Thank you for this! I'd never seen confession in that light before: as entering into relationship with God in that way. Wow! My copy of Grace Walk is on its way! Can't wait to read it! Blessings to you today!

Hi Gayle. :) Actually the excerpt in the blog today is taken out of a Max Lucado book, which has been suggested to me to read as well. Here's the Kindle link
http://www.amazon.ca/Grace-Deserve-Greater-Imagine-ebook/dp/B0078FABF4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1357314999&sr=1-1
It's really cool finding out how grace is so connected to everything, to GOD. Who knew??? I still think you should get Gracewalk though. I'm trying to work my way through chapter 4 right now. It's a tough one. :)
Blessings on you my friend.
Sorry the Link didn't go through. Copy and paste I guess. :)
